About

I am Freya Wattez, 27 years old
I am a digital designer (cand.it) from Aarhus University, based at Trøjborg in Aarhus, where I live with my boyfriend and son. I would describe my self as an ambitious and structured Digital Designer who is interested in UX-, UI design and the perception of digitalization as a concept.

I have always been very independent, which is shown by both my earlier and current career. Currently I am employed at No78 as a E-commerce- and store manager. In my prior job at Benedikte Utzon I too worked with e-commerce and social media concurrently with being the assistant manager.

With my previous occupations I have obtained independence and management skills with the purpose of benefitting my future career.

I am constantly seeking to improve my career, and to push the boundaries of what is possible with my resume - both applicable to my previous jobs and my education. I stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies, and I am always experimenting with new ideas and approaches.

My latest research was my master thesis on the subject of technology comprehension in medical school - as health technology is continuously merging into the field, but it seems that the medical students do not get proper education of this.

My dream is to have an impact on other peoples lives. This can be achieved by either working with health technologies, to educate younger people of technology and the conceptualization behind or to become a succes in the consulting and development environment.

“Today we don’t just use technology, we live with it. Much more deeply than ever before we are aware that interacting with technology involves us emotionally, intellectually and sensually. So people who design, use, and evaluate systems need to be able to understand and analyze people’s felt experience with technology”.

PETER WRIGHT, JOHN MCCARTHY & LISA MEEKISON, from the book “Funology: From Usability to enjoyment”, 2003

Digital Design Master

The master’s program in Digital design (cand.it) focuses on interactive digital technologies, and on their context, culture and aesthetics. We live in a digital culture, where digital technologies influence everything from how we organize society to the way we listen to music and pay for our coffee. That is why you work on Digital design with digital products, services and interactions, you analyze and apply concrete technologies, you explore and challenge our understanding of IT, and you reflect on the connection between IT, society, aesthetics and culture.

On the course in Digital design, you briefly study what it means that we live in a digital culture and how we can take a critical look at it through both theory, analysis and practice. The line combines theoretical insight with analytical competences and creative skills, and the focus is particularly on the interaction between interaction, functionality and aesthetics in e.g. apps, interactive products and games. The line also deals with today’s and future’s smart cities, sound design and the conceptual parts of digital design, including critical art.
